Dog Training Tip #2 Tasty Treats
Have lots of tasty treats and favorite toys to reward your dog's progress and attention while dog training. Having a variety of rewards keeps your dog engaged and excited about training longer. Use high value food rewards like cheese, hot dogs, liver, and lunch meat cut up into small bite-size pieces. Reward often. Don't be stingy with your rewards while training.

Clicker Training the Hand Target

Here are some videos of us learning some new basic tricks that really help with Doggie Dancing. This trick here is the hand target and Melanie uses it with us to teach us where she wants to move us. Notice she uses a clicker to help with training, it really helps us know exactly what she wants and we love the tasty treats.

Here we are at White Sands National Monument. It was so cool! There were these really tall dunes made of sand and we could run up and down and all around. Sometimes we even slid down them. Mom got this sled and went sand sledding. We thought that was so cool we wanted to go with her, but we didn't need no sled we just wanted to race her up the hill, then race her down the hill. It was one of the funnest things we did all vacation. And talk about smells! There are so many different critters that live here and we could smell them all. If Mom had only given us enough time to find some foxes or lizards, I'm sure we would have.
Look Mom, I can like my eyeball while running! It's a great way to get that sand out of the eyes!

This site has been tested and approved for fun for all canines. The park is even dog friendly and doesn't mind if we have a bit of fun. You should really check it out next time your in New Mexico.

Hey you should also check out Mom's new site www.DoggieDancing.com You can get a free getting started training manual for canine freestyle and soon you can dance like us. We'll get serious about dancing again once we get back from vacation.

Woof Woof for now!

The Grand Canyon Trip

Hi this is Aramis and Artamus McClure here with our humans Melanie and Scott McClure. We are a couple of crazy fun-loving dogs who love to travel, go on long walks, go camping, listen to the birds in the morning, catch frisbees and most of all do the doggie boogie. Our mom loves to dance with us. She calls is musical canine freestyle and thinks it's the coolest dog sport out there. Artamus really loves to do jumps and spins and I'm working on getting good with my sit pretty and doing all that creative heelwork. We'll tell you all more about that later though. These are some pics of us on our winter vacation to the Grand Canyon. This one up above is us at a vortex in Sedona, AZ. We thought it was pretty cool. There are some interesting energies up there and we think we could feel them. There were even some cool rocks and trees that grew in a swirled pattern.

This is me with Mom and Dad. I'm the real lover of the family. I always want to give good kisses.

I learned Mom kinda liked it when I gave her big warm kisses on her nose. It was so cold, I just had to warm her up a bit.

This is Artamus checking out the view of the Grand Canyon. We couldn't get enough of wiggling out onto the edge and checking everything out. I think Mom kept getting nervous about us getting right out on the edge, but it was like we were on top of the world!

Mom and Dad said they were real happy they had us with them, because we helped them out a lot on the snow and ice. I am very sensitive about Mom's balance on the slippery ice and helped pull her up some of those steep slopes. I was made for this weather. It was so cool! This was our first trip to see snow. You see we all live in Texas where we never get any snow. But I've got good traction and protection with my feathered paws. We are Australian shepherds afterall and we were made to withstand cold and wet conditions. I wasn't even cold one bit. I wish it snowed more at home. I really loved it. Mom and Dad would let us off leash in some abandoned parking lots and let us romp and run around. We had such a blast! It snowed 18 inches while we were at the Grand Canyon. That was record snow for them. Check back later and we'll tell you more about our awesome road trip.
